The original symbol consisted of five symbols in the same format and colours as the Olympic one.
Each symbol was based on a traditional Korean decorative symbol called a pa. Two pa can be seen interlocking on the South Korean flag. The Paralympics opening ceremony kicks off the Games off on Tuesday 24 August. Like the Summer Olympics ceremony a few weeks ago, it will take place at the 68,capacity Japan National Stadium, with the same venue hosting the closing ceremony on 5 September.
