The Secure Key is a two-factor authentication device that will help protect you from online banking fraud. Two-factor authentication, means you not only need a password or PIN, but you also need a device unique to you, like the Secure Key. We will also ask for two digits from your personal HSBC security number.

Tap on the Profile menu, select Security. Tap on Deactivate under the Digital Security Device heading. Click on the red Deactivate button on the bottom of the screen. You will see an option to switch device types and instructions on how to do so. As good online security practice, we recommend you change these security details at least every 90 days. If your battery has run out of power, please contact us and we'll order a new device for you.

The PIN reset code has been entered incorrectly.

You will then be prompted to enter the reset code again. You should ensure that you are entering the reset code exactly as it appears on screen. To protect you from fraud, the Secure Key will lock after three incorrect entries.

The PIN reset code was entered incorrectly for the third time. The Mobile Secure Key generates a temporary code you can use to log on to online banking, and approve specific transactions and account updates.

Select 'Generate Security Code' at the bottom of the screen. Step 3: Enter your 6-digit PIN or biometric authentication if you've enabled it to generate a security code.
